Chicken and Waffles Skewers


Skewered chicken and mini waffles served with maple syrup.

Ingredients

– 8 boneless, skinless chicken thighs
– 2 cups all-purpose flour
– 2 teaspoons garlic powder
– 2 teaspoons onion powder
– 2 teaspoons smoked paprika
– 1 teaspoon cumin
– 1 teaspoon chili powder
– 2 teaspoons sea salt
– 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
– 2 eggs, beaten
– 1 cup buttermilk
– 4 waffles, cut into 1-inch cubes
– 2 tablespoons olive oil
– 8 wooden skewers

Instructions

1. Preheat your air fryer to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.

2. In a shallow bowl, combine flour, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, cumin, chili powder, sea salt, and pepper.

3. In a separate bowl, whisk together eggs and buttermilk.

4. Dip chicken thighs into the egg mixture, then into the flour mixture to coat.

5. Place chicken thighs into the preheated air fryer and cook for 8 minutes.

6. Meanwhile, place waffle cubes on a baking sheet and drizzle with olive oil.

7. When the chicken is done, remove from the air fryer and let cool slightly.

8. Once cooled, thread chicken and waffle cubes onto the skewers, alternating between the two.

9. Place the skewers back into the air fryer and cook for an additional 5 minutes.

10. Serve warm and enjoy!
